when a speed sensor goes out,it can make your trans slip.most common fault is elevated transmission line presure(hard shifts and hard nuetral to drive and reverse)this is what Ford calls Failure Management Effects Mode(kinda a partial limp home mode)the computer did not see a complete failure, but it saw enough to go to preset parameters.that means the computer tried everything it could and could not make the unit work so it raises trans line pressure(thinking more pressure will help and result is harsh shifts)when that doesnt work it goes into limp mode(computer shut off to trans.)i am sorry if i am going on and on,but, there is no clear cut symptom for anybody to say"ya thats a speed sensor" they react with different symptoms.i do this for a living and i nail these things down pretty good, but i do get fooled sometimes. thanks for listening.

im not happy that i called ford this morning and they still do not have bearings for rear end yet. i was there on fri and you would think they would have been on monday mornings truck delivery at the latest if not fri aft or sat. its not like i live in a small town i live in a huge subburd of indianapolis ,indiana, called greenwood.i have this feeling theat i will be back at the dealership in the next 2000 miles as this problem is going to appear again.
