I drove my 2000 x home the other day and everything was fine. The radio led display was working, you could see the clock and the station info.
I woke up the next morning and started the X and the display was dead. No clock was showing and no station info was showing, but the radio works and plays fine.
I checked the fuses and found no fuse blown. Is there an inline fuse or a fuselink that would cause this problem? I just can't think that the led display went dead for no reason.
If it is dead, where could I go to purchase another faceplate?
Thanks in advance,
Tom

I don't know of this to be a common problem on the Excursion, but I know a few folks (locally) who've had the exact same thing happen in their Explorers. Some repairs were to resolder a few connections that had come loose inside the receiver, and others replaced the display panel itself. My line of thinking says that with the amount of $$$ required to do the repair, it may be time to upgrade to an aftermarket stereo & remote CD changer.
If and when mine goes, I'll probably get a Kenwood in-dash receiver and a mating "music keg." The keg is basically a removeable hard-drive to which you can download about 200 CDs worth of music via your PC. No more carrying CDs onboard. |
