hello all. i have a 2000 v-10 limited and it just started sputtering like crazy.
about 3 months ago i installed a cheap set of champion plugs as the old ones were worn. so about 2 weeks ago i decided to install a set of the bosch plus 2's instead. i didnt have the time to finish the job so i installed the front six(front 3 on each side) and left it at that. about 3 or 4 days later it started to sputter. then i changed the rest of the plugs and still sputtering. is it the plugs or something else?? maybe coincidence that its the fuel pump?? oh yeah and there is tons of black ssoot on the tailpipe.like its running rich so is it the fuel pump?? makes me think not. possibly something else electrical

thanks
clarence

It sounds as if you have a coil out. If you recall, when you changed out your plugs, each plug had an individual coil attached to it. You might want to either check the connectors to the coils or consider checking/replacing the culprit(s). I'm sure you can do a search here on the forum for more information considering the coils.

Ok here's my sputtering problem. Took it into the dealer fore the 90k service did everything I could to it. It was like a day at the spa for the truck. While it was there I had them change the plugs it's at 94k so I thought it was about time. I get it back home and when it idles in gear it stumbles. So I took it back in for them to look at and was told it was a fuse Now it's going back in first thing tomorrow to get it fixed again. This time I'll send the wife in there to stir it up As I've already left two nasty messages on the service manager's voice mail. One for this and another for some quick fixes they did to my doors then they replaced my lock actuaters.
