I'm installing a sound system soon and was wondering what boxes everyone has...for those of you with a sub that is.

I'd like to build one that fits in front of the center console. I know how to do it but I'd like to see if anyone has ever done it before so that I can get an idea before I jump in headfirst.

Thanks!

Have you checked out JL Stealth sub. It goes in the front console. I also have seen alot of guys take out the spare, make a round cab. the same size as the spare and put in two 12`s and put the spare cover over it

Since I am running larger tires, I took out the spare tire and designed a subwoofer box with two 10" woofers and even had room for the amp. It rocks!

I put on of the JL Stealboxes in an extended-cab f-150 and it sounded awesome. Granted the X is much larger but i think it would still sound good. I have one Solobaric 12L7 in a very large box in the back of my X. It is real loud! You do have lots of options...Are you planning on doing everything yourself?

Thanks for the inputs guys. I do plan on doing this myself. I've built many in the past and prefer to have a hand in what goes in my truck. Besides, this way I can custom design it so it looks as close to stock as possible.

Thinking about doing an isobaric design of some sort....not sure if I can fit a small bandpass in there or not...some speakers can handle small volumes. Others...

It'll be a while regardless....still waiting on some parts to come in.

Have you ever done any fiberglass subbox work? I have a good idea if so....I plan to do it myself but I just haven't had the time.

No, never done any fiberglass sub-box work. I've worked with glass before though. Interesting idea...a sub-box made from glass. Never seen it done. Do you think it would hold up to the pressures? I know it would but how thick would it have to be for that kind of use?

Depends on how many subs...Type of subs...Usally a 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch think. You use chopmat to give it some thinkness. Works real well and can save you lots of space. Someone in this group has two fiberglass enclosures mounted in the rear doors. I forget who he is though.
