I pulled out of work the other day and WOW a loud binding sound in the front passenger side. It went away then came back and was binding and going in and out with the rotation of the tires. When I stopped it stopped and never happened again for the rest of the ride home 30 miles. went to work the next day and everything was fine until I left work and it did it again but this time the ABS light came on! So when I got home I looked through the rim and it looks as if the outer brake pad is moving forward and backward about 1.5 to 2 inches due to the scuff marks I can see on the outside of the pad!

Anyone with any ideas of what the heck is going on????

Will dig into it on Saturday afternoon! The caliper appears to be on there tight!!! Not sure what the heck is going on.

I would almost bed the brake pad material seperated from the plate
I have had this happen on my Suburbans before.

Now that is why I spend twice the $$ and buy the best pads available

If you changed the brakes recently make sure that small V shaped wire is attached to it!! I found that out at the hard way...had everything back together and the pad just didnt act right and found out that it was needed!! If you can, just change the pads!!
