I have been reading al the threads on modifications to make the suspension of excursions better. I gathered that new good quality shocks, Hellwig sway bar, and Landyot radius pods are the way to go. I have a 2005 X 4X4 Diesel with 12k miles. Are any of those modifications of any help for the 2005 X? Another way to ask the same question is: has Ford fixed any of the suspension problems i have been reading about?

My 2005 X suspension feels reasonably well, but my old 1995 ford explorer felt better and so did my 1993 Dodge Dakota.

Welcome to the Excursion forums

The 2005 Excursions should have rolled off the assembly line with the rear sway bar installed so you can eliminate that.

The stock shocks have to go for sure, there's several brands of aftermarket shocks to choose from that'll greatly improve the ride.

The Landyot Radius Rods as I've read from owners that installed em have been pleased with the ride/control improvements,I'm (still) working on rounding up fundage to place an order for our Excursion

I also upgraded the front steering stabilizer which helps alot.
