Problem with getting another Excursion is that you gotta do all the mods you did on the previous one again.

My favorite mod was the "Dome light override". However, things are much different under there.

I have no idea where the wire would be that controls the interior dome lights.

Anyone have a diagram for this 05?

Maybe thos changed even prior to 05. When did the fuse box move to right behind the fuse panel. I remember there being two fuse boxes on my 2000.

I have the diagram for the 05 but I can get it to post up but the information I can give you is as follows;

Interior lamps relay = Black with Light Blue tracer
Battery Saver Relay = Light Green with Yellow tracer
Ground = Black

Both relay circuits come off the back of the instrument cluster via a 20 pin female plug

Pin #1 LG/YE
Pin #2 BK/LB

What ya hooking up Ken?

I need to put switch inline on the interior light wire so that I can turn them off when the doors are open. Such a simple thing Ford coulda added but didn't...

So the wire comes from the instrument cluster now?? Or is this the wire that POWERS the instrument cluster's lights? I wouldn't want to switch that ...

Where is the Central Junction box now?

After sifting thru pages of schematics and learning the circuitry here's what I'd do if faced with wanting to install a switch for the overhead courtesy lighting.

Go to the right hand floor kick panel and remove that panel. Now go to the plug as illustrated HERE and refer to this Pinout for the pin #13 Black with Light Blue tracer wire. That circuit will run back to the courtesy lamps Front,Rear and Cargo.

Please do verify the circuit with a multimeter or circuit tester when the lights are activated,I always say better safe than sorry especially when it's someone elses baby

If you need additional images of the circuitry lemme know Ken.

Cool! great pics!

So I wonder....what side to wire the switch? Before the female plug or before the male plug....

Technically either side would work due to the circuit is downstream on both sides of the wire harness junction leading to the courtesy lights but still check the circuit with a multimeter or circuit tester

I'd tie into the side that has the most harness slack for ease of cutting into or you could remove both sides of the circuit from the plugs(with pins) and go from there so there's no cutting just use a couple 3M wire taps.

I was unable to copy/paste from the schematics so I did the next best thing and thats the digital camera and having an LCD monitor gives a much better resolution over the CRT's.
