Ive decided on a few upgrades that require an aircompressor and need some recomendations.
Id like to install Airbags (Firestone), Rancho 9000 shocks, and an airhorn.
All three of these require an air supply. My question is weather or not I can run all of these off one air source?
If so what size compressor / holding tank would I need?
Where should I install it?
Any help is greatly apreciated.

This isn't to hard do. If you are getting the firestone bag kit you are almost there. I like to do things to save money. I put a system on my sons superduty. The compressor will need to have at least 2ft of copper line coming out. The extended run time with a storage tank will melt the plastic line. I user an old big truck air tank about 8" dia. and 24" long. I had a tap on the tank for airing tires and I put a leveling valve on the rear axle just like my big trucks. I havn't got to the air horn yet. Most anybody with a speck of mechanical nohow can do this. Let me know how it turns out. Bill

Hey guys, If you think your going to use these Firestone bags for some lift, think again. They ride ruff and bouncy. Even with new shocks. There compressor is ok but I think you can do better. The fix for the ride is larger diameter bags. The more square inchs of bag you have, the less air pressure it takes to up your load. The problem with the last one I did was the leveling valve. I used an instant responce unit. In the small rig, these parts are for class 8 trucks, the instant responce valve is to sensitive. You can run your compressor to death, literaly. The standard neway leveling valve has a gel capsule and that makes it slower to act than the rotary valve of the quick responce. You will have to make you own brackets for the bags but if your going to use them a fair amount it would be well worth it to have 8" dia. bags.

In an effort to soften the ride with air-bags, a poster on another site plumbed in a reservoir tank that shared the air in the bags. At their lowest setting (5 PSI?), the intent was to have more VOLUME of air to compress. Later, the fellow posted that it worked well.

I know on my Kenworth's, they went to a system with large air lines directly to the bags from the air tanks. There probly is an equasion to get the right match for the Firestone bag's. This is called an accumulator system. I would still want to have a storeage tank with a check valve ahead of this plus a levaling valve on the axle. this takes the work out of towing. You hook up and watch your truck return to it predestined height. One more thought on the accumulator syste is the stability issue. With your bags hooked together when you are in a off camber situation like cornering or even some roads. The air will shift from one side to the other. Useing check valves and electric dump valves you can seperate the two sides and have a awesome system.
