I'm a soon to be diesel owner and I've heard the horror stories for the high cost of oil and fuel filters from Ford. Just curious if others have found good alternatives? |

The Powerstroke Diesel engine takes 15 quarts(yes 15) of oil. The filters depending on where you purchase them range in the $6-$12 area.
Oil change intervals depends on the owner's usage and preference at 3k-5k miles(I change every 3k)
Figure about $30 to change it yourself

The best oil filter prices I've seen on the web are in the $20 range. This is for the 6.0. |

For the 6.0L yes that makes a big difference! You won't want to change the 6.0L fuel filters,I suggest paying someone for that task.
Powerstrokeshop has the oil filters for just under $19

I just changed my fuel filters at 15000, the one on top of the engine was a breeze. The one in the frame was a little tougher, I got diesel fuel all over my shirt, but got the job done. |
