I'm a soon to be diesel owner and I've heard the horror stories for the high cost of oil and fuel filters from Ford. Just curious if others have found good alternatives?

The Powerstroke Diesel engine takes 15 quarts(yes 15) of oil. The filters depending on where you purchase them range in the $6-$12 area.

Oil change intervals depends on the owner's usage and preference at 3k-5k miles(I change every 3k)

Figure about $30 to change it yourself

The best oil filter prices I've seen on the web are in the $20 range. This is for the 6.0.

For the 6.0L yes that makes a big difference! You won't want to change the 6.0L fuel filters,I suggest paying someone for that task.

Powerstrokeshop has the oil filters for just under $19

I just changed my fuel filters at 15000, the one on top of the engine was a breeze. The one in the frame was a little tougher, I got diesel fuel all over my shirt, but got the job done.
