I have an 05 XLT Excursion. I would like to know if there's a locking gas cap for it. I bought one from an auto store for my Suburban a couple of years ago and it triggered a " check engine". The dealer said that the locking gas cap interfered with the emissions. Where can I get one for my Excursion that will work without the above effect?
Thanks.

Ray,
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm gonna have to see which of these caps fit the X.

I put a Stant locking cap on mine (gas V10) a couple years back with no emission-control problems. Another thought is to buy a round-key lock cylnder from an RV store and fit it to the gas door. |

Landylot,
Thanks for that round-key lock idea. I don't know if I want to be drilling a hole on that new gas door but if I get ambitious I might just go that route.

Well, before I had to give up my Ex to ford for it being faulty, I had a STANT cap on my diesel X.. .it worked fine...
Now Ford is making me a new one, and I will use the same gas cap.

Has anyone found a way to key the gas cap the same as the truck so you dont have to have a seperate key.
Not a bad idea with the feul prices we are seeing. Just ordered a bunch of locking caps for the company trucks.

I read somewhere that fuel cannot be siphoned out of today's tanks because of Federal Safety Regulations concerning rollovers. Seems there is some sort of valve in there that prevents the fuel from spilling out if the truck is upside down which makes siphoning next to impossible.
Might want to verify that before you go and buy a bunch of locking gas caps.
