Anyone ever buy retreads, or more specifically, use this company??
http://www.high-tec-retreading.com/
Prices seem very good, but not sure if running retreads on my Ex is a good idea.
Any thoughts?? |

NO WAY would I buy retreads on a passenger vehicle!
You are asking for a coffin on wheels.
Ever see what can happen to a truck taking a turn and blow a tire?
Do you really want to put your family life in harms way to save a few bucks
Sorry, but semi's run retreads and there is enough of them on the road. |

I sometimes ran recaps on the rear axle sets on my Internationals but never considered em on passenger vehicles and probably wouldn't,now SuperDuty duallys would be a different story if used commercially.

I agree --I would definitely not run retreads. 7700lbs on a tire not completely one piece is asking for trouble. No need to lay out a scenario of tire failure at highway speeds. Stay safe!

I am one of the truck drivers running recaps on the road, and alot of people do not know that it is illegal to run them on the steer (front) tires, because of the increased risk of failure. It is less dangerous in the case of duals because there is always a back-up there with it. If you have ever seen the damage to a truck when a cap comes off I don't think you would want that to happen to your X. It usually tears off the fender and anything else it can get ahold of. In my opinion the small savings on passenger tires is not worth the risk. But that is just my opinion.
