Anyone have a part number for a locking gas cap for 2001 V10?
Local FORD dealer states not available as a FORD part; aftermarket stores only have caps that need to screw into fill neck, not quarter turn. |

I got mine from AutoZone Tuesday for 19.99. After spending 130.00 bucks on gas I figured i needed some form of security.

If you go to AutoZone, make sure you get the correct item.
They have two caps, one has screw-threads (5503), the second a quarter-turn (5502).
For my 2001 V10, the quarter-turn is correct, at $19.99. |

Anyone found a locking cap with dial numbers. I really don't want to mess with another key. |

Mine came from a NAPA store, it has a key. Thirty bucks is a small price to pay when you've got $125+ in the tank.
It swapped out in about 60 seconds, I popped the OEM cap out of the plastic retaining ring that holds it to the vehicle, and the new one went right into the same ring.
Piece of cake, and WELL worth the money and effort.

Wish I'd have heard of NAPA cap before ordering the the one from Autozone. It's ok but you need two hands to lock or unlock it. The darn thing spins otherwise. Another minus is that it won't fit in the plastic ring to keep it from getting lost. Oh well. Too late now. |
