Fuel filters -

Top - I read on here everyone talking about a drain on the top fuel filter. My 6.0 has none. Didn't really seem to cause a problem. I didn't see any water in what was left in the receiver, so I just put the new filter in and went on.

Bottom - My manual showed a drain valve on the lower filter and I did not see one. What's the deal? Of course I ended up with diesel all over me when I took it off. Man do I stink. Is there another way to drain it first?

Air filter - After replacing the element, I need to reset the indicator. I says push to reset. Pushing doesn't do anything. Is that yellow tab a cover, or is it what needs to be pushed?

Despite how this looks, I'm not a total motor bonehead - I do have a 9 sec BBC street car!

you are correct - No drain

you are correct - no valve except the brass plug (requires 6mm allen wrench) on the inside face of the HFCM near the bottom rear... horrible design that has been improved (a bit) they don't make a brass one any more...
a shade tree shortcut is to take a large plastic coke bottle and cut the top down on one side about 6 inches making a funnel that will catch the high pressure fuel push when the plug is removed...

Air filter - After replacing the element, I need to reset the indicator. I says push to reset. Pushing doesn't do anything. Is that yellow tab a cover, or is it what needs to be pushed?

the filter minder is almost as good as the overhead lie-o-meter mpg indicator
almost useless - I went 40K + miles and mine never moved - finally the dash light came on and I changed the filter...

Despite how this looks, I'm not a total motor bonehead - I do have a 9 sec BBC street car!

All the filters have a VERY long life expectancy - some say change them at short cycles, I'm on the other extreme where I "get my money's worth" out of them

good luck...

Lower one is frame mounted (inside of frame) just below drivers seat. 6MM allen wrench to drain it as recommended once a month. Appox. 8 oz. of fuel will drain. Reach over front drive shaft when removing plug to avoid fuel running down your arm. Change fuel filters every 15K. Park truck with rear wheels elevated when changing lower filter element (HFCM). This will help you not get a diesel bath. You'll need a 36MM wrench to get the cap off the HFCM. The filter cap on top of engine can be removed with a 1/2" socket extension (square). Don't over tighten when replacing cap. It's only plastic.

Try to find a 6 point socket if you can - less stress on the plastic caps of the HFCM and the Oil Filter.

The system is designed to purge the air. You may get some white smoke on start up but the condition will be temporary.

See if that helps some
