88,000 miles here. Only major repair was replacing and the front ball joints at about 73,000 miles, that was about a $900 bill. That was right after the lift was put on, when I took it in for alignment, so the lift was not a factor.

We've only logged 34k on the odo so far with no repairs to post.

We're going to upgrade to greasable ball joints before the stockers expire.

I have about 85,000 miles on my 2000 V10. The motor has been rock solid!!! I regularly pull a heavy trailer, so I work it hard some days. I did have the power steering pump replaced at about 75K and the ball joints at about 55K. My exhaust is original, but in it's last days. I do maintain it well, fluids replaced regularly.

Vehicle life is directly tied to the owner's ability & desire to maintain it. Kinda like a humans.

I've heard of people dying at 22 of natural causes. My Grandfather passed at 95+.

These trucks have a designed ring and bearing life of 300,000 road miles before a rebuild is necessary. So the engine, if properly lubricated and maintained is designed to last many years. But that also depends on the "type" of miles driven. Fleet trucks used hard and put away wet won't last as long as a family truckster.

With the exception of a few items (IAC, early model sparkplugs for example), there aren't too many other parts that are know to be a problematic area on these modular engines.

So I guess what I'm saying is; life expectancy is up to you.

My last V10 had 80K+ when I sold it with no problems with the engine. My current one only has 3800 miles.

My last truck, an '87 F350 crew-cab SRW with 5.8L V8, has 192K miles on it when it sold 2-1/2 years ago after I bought the X. I bought the F350 when it had only 43K or 47K miles. The only time the valve covers came off was to replace the gaskets. Regular oil changes every 3K miles helps. I still see the ol' F350 going into work in the mornings.

I just bought mine a few months back but there were no problems with it prior, as far as I was told.
Going over 90K and the truck runs & drives like a brand new truck.
It was a Utah truck though, so I'm gonna have to do some rust removal from the whole bottom of the truck....should be fun!

Thanks guys for all the replys... more comments are welcomed!

My 2000 has 89K and is fully paid for... Just trying to decide wether to get back into payments and buy a new Ex or just invest a couple g's in my old truck. The fact that this is the last year for the Ex is also influencing me... I asked my wife if she thought we should be a 2- Ex family and she made me sleep outside! So, I bought her a Toyota hybrid!

To date- she has been flawless! My interior is like new, my exterior is a 8-9, etc... But of course this year small stuff like the door locks, a big clunk (passenger side) in the suspension everytime i go over a big bump, and just small crap.... I just want to make sure that she does'nt start coming apart over the next 50K- 80k. If I could get another 50K (2-3years) without major mechanical or performance failure then my original investment of $35k would have turned out to be one of the best investments ever.

Please comment.

Cheers to all in the forum!
