I've got the factory 6CD radio in my 2001 4x4 PSD X. Yesterday the radio learned a new trick.
When I step on the brake sharply, the radio scans to the next preset station. If I'm listening
to a CD, it will skip to the next disc. I'm thinking that some soda or something may have
sloshed into the unit over the last few years, so I want to pull the radio and clean it out with
some switch cleaner spray. Before I pull the radio out though, I want to make sure that this
doesn't have one of those security features that renders the radio useless unless some
certain procedure is followed during the removal. Anybody know of anything like that in
the Excursion.
Thanks,
- Jim L |

Hi Jim,
I recently removed my radio and replaced my FM modulator that allows my overhead dvd player to play thru the stereo speakers. Re-installed unit and it worked just fine. My radio does not have the 6 disk changer; it is the cd/cassette unit in one. But I can't imagine it being any different than yours. Check your owner's manual and should give you info on whether there is an anti-theft code for your radio or not. Good Luck!!

Ford didn't do anything crazy to the factory radio like others have. It's ok to pull

If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out.
