Just pcicked up my X today... the rattle from the floorboard is GONE!!! Teh service writer told me he would "keep the ticket open" in case the rattle came back in the next few days, but so far - silence!!!

Service writer said the tech had to call Frd tech support, who told them to use a "body mount shim"... I never heard of that before.

Ahh... much better... so much that now I can hear a small rattle in the driver's door area... not sure if its like a body rub noise or mechanical latch issue, but regardless, liveable for now...

Now I just need to get my front shocks changed to my Rancho 9000s like the rears. Tried to do it the other morning and dang, the bolts are on tight.. I was trying to do it without taking of the front tires, but I dont have enough room to get leverage to break those bolts free....

Hello Kevin,
Could you please tell us the name of the dealership? In case my dealership doesn't know about this "body-mount shim", I would like to be able to contact your dealership. I called my dealership about this very same problem and they had never even heard of it...

Thanks,

Roger

If possible, could you post the part # of the body mount shim? Alot of X owners could use this. Does anyone know what the shim is made out of? Maybe they could be made at home.

Hi Guys,

No problem _ I dont have nay paperwork since the ticket is still open, but I'll call the dealer on Monday and have the advistor send it to me.

Will post an update after that, but, 2 days later its still fine... just door rattle to get fixed now. The Rancho 9000s all around set a 3 are amazing... Need the trailer hooked up to see what else I need to do... helper springs, add a leaf, airbags.... This is getting expensive... Wife is gonna kill me soon!

Hello Kevin,
Have you heard anything from the dealership concerning the body mount shim? The squeaking is driving me crazy! If you can tell me the name of the dealership that fixed your X, I can give them a call and get the information.

Thanks for your help,

Roger

OK guys, here's the skinny I got from my advisor...

The bod mount shim kit is not for an excursion... The tech had to call Ford tech support and Ford told him to use a rear cab mount (kit?) for a 01-03 F150. He didn't have the details of the part # or how it was applied or if any modifications were done for this application on the Ex.

Advisor's name was Wayne Powers, of Leif Johnson Ford in Austin TX. 512-454-3767.

He knows that I'm posting this info and his phone #, so feel free to call him.

Rgds
