Hello all, I've upgraded my shocks to Ranch's and I also bought the Ranch steering stabilizer used for an OEM replacement.. The stabilizer came with what looks to an extension bolt to move the mounting point of the stabilizer on one end. Unfortunately, no instructions came with this stabilizer on whether or not I should use this extension bolt.
Anyone else run into this? Did you used the extension bolt?
Thanks for your help! |

My Procomp ES2000 came with replacement hardware longer bolt, washer, nut and spacer.
The Rancho stabilizer and ES2000 essentially are the same outside of decals,I used all the hardware supplied.
If you need a photo of the stabilizer installed I can upload one for ya.

I changed out my stock shocks and steering stabilzer this summer to Rancho 9000's and upgraded the steering stabilizer to the Rancho . I used the same bolts (OEM) for the stabilzer. I did not use the exrension bolts taht came with the stabilizer. Works like a dream...Man I love the new ride. I drive on level 1....9 when I want to see my wife in a jogging bra!!!

I had the stabilizer on without the extension and it worked fine. After looking at it some more, I did decide to install the extension to provide additional clearance. For those that might have the same question on how to install the extension, here's my best shot at explaining how it goes.
The extension is threaded on both ends. Note that one end is tapered, the other is not. There is a nut-like boss about 1/3 the distance from the non-tapered end of the extension. There are also two washers, same outside diameter, but one has a smaller inside diameter than the other. Finally, there are two nuts. Start by placing the tapered end of the extension into the rear of the OEM tab that's already mounted to the truck. Place a nut over the threads to hold the extension in place. Put the washer with the larger inside diameter over the other end of the extension. It will stop when it hits the nut like boss. Place the steering stabilizer end onto the extension; it will butt up against the washer. Then put on the washer with the smaller inside diameter. It will only go as far as the treads on the end of the extension and will butt up against the other side of the stabilizer. Finally, install the nut on the remaining end of the extension and tighten everything up.
When finished, your stabilizer will sit perfectly parallel to the lower track bar, with about 1 1/2 inches of clearance between the stabilizer and the track bar.
Hope this helps.
