Does anyone know if there is a shut off switch for the internal lighting on a 2000 Excursion 4X4 v10? While camping, we open and shut the doors a lot and the battery runs down. I've been forced to pull the fuse but that is getting old. Any help would be appreciated. |

Welcome to the forum! Now the bad news ....
There's no shutoff switch. I bought the factory service manuals and wiring diagrams for my '01 shortly after acquiring the vehicle. After having battled the common "door-ajar switch" ailment on more than a couple occasions (you can search that subject in this forum), I used the wiring diagrams to determine which wires to snip at the GEM, and insert a set of toggle switches. Now I can turn them off at will. The neat thing is even though all switches may be turned off, the key fob remote will still activate the lights. |

There are detailed instructions somewhere in these forums. Search for dome light override.
I've since found an easier way.
Put a switch in between the grounds. They are easily access by pulling the overhead console down. (there aren't bolts that hold it up.)
Two switches are needed. One from the front two lights and one from the second and third row seats.
No need to switch the cargo lamp...obviously.

I hope i'm not to late here but I have replaced the bulbs in 2 rigs of mine with LED bulbs. I dealt with a guy in Ferndale,WA. www.vleds.com. You can get every bulb, i mean every bulb you will need. There are different amounts of leds in some of the bulbs. He has the measurements so you can get the biggest one to fit the hole. The first thing everybody notices on my rig is the backup lights. Looks like lasers or a Lexas coming at you. You will have to change the flasher to a motorized version. Other that that the change is painless. You will have bright lights that draw next to nothing in power. |

X 2 I've changed out all my lights as well. Different company but same stuff. You'll love the change. Well worth the money
