I pretty sure this subject has been tossed around on this site...I apologize for the redundancy. I'm new to the group and am trying my best to find out information to upgrade my spings, both front and rear. I've called two dealerships (service, parts, and sales) and even called Ford customer service, all a waste of time. I am hoping someone can tell me for sure that the replacement spring for a 350 or 250 SD will definitly work for my 2000 4x4 limited, only question is finding right stiffness. After finding this out, I guess I can go to Ford parts and buy what I need, but I was told that if I buy the wrong springs, I'm stuck with them...Any help on this would be sincerely appreciated.

First off, Welcome Randy!!

Now for the spring info. There are many options of spring rates but it all factors on witch moter you have. You should try the search block in the upper right corner off the web page, try different phrases with springs in it. I will also search for you and get back to you.

Thanks very much Scott...looking forward to reading the different posts on here for information and posting when I can provide anything myself, although I think that might be awhile. I sincerely appreciate your time, and anyone elses that might post. I have a 2000 limited 4x4 v10. I honestly think the frontend is way to soft, and would love to upgrade to a much beefier spring...and I just want to make sure I have the correct info before I hit the parts counter. Any thoughts on spring usage from either the 350, 450 or higher would be appreciated, assuming that these springs will fit with no problem under the X. I guess installation will be the next set of questions I have. I gave some thought about lift kits (conservative ones at that), but I'm thinking just the springs will do what I want. Again, thanks for the welcome, and I look forward to hearing from you and the group.

Welcome, Randy.

This subject has been one of much debate. Several guys have reported good things about putting U, V, W, or X code springs on their Excursions. I believe the stock springs are C or D code. The springs are exactly the same length , so fit is not a problem. They will raise the front end and "harden" the ride somewhat. As birdman mentioned, the height increase will depend on the engine you have. Since you have the V10, U or V codes would likely do what you want. X codes would probably make you nose-high.

As for installation, it is reported to be simple for anyone who is mechanically inclined. If I ever got the itch to change mine, I'd let a shop do it. I just don't enjoy wrenching. To be honest, the ride doesn't bother me much as it is.

Good luck. Let us know what you decide to do.
