My Excursion just started having a problem with the accelerator pedal. When you push it the vehicle doesn't move, it's in gear, just doesn't go out of idle. In doing some research I found out that there was a recall issued in 2003 that expired in March 2004:
Ford has issued a customer satisfaction program (03B03) for 2002 and 2003 SuperDuty And Excursion vehicles equipped with 7.3L diesel engines. The bulletin calls for the replacement of the adjustable accelerator pedal sensor. The service will be in effect until 31 March 2004, regardless of vehicle mileage. The vehicles involved were made at the Kentucky Truck Plant from JOB1 through 17 October 2002 and at the Cuautitlan Assembly Plant from JOB1 through 21 December 2001. Should the sensor fail, the driver may experience an intermittent loss of acceleration, or the ability to increase engine RPM past idle when depressing the accelerator pedal.

I bought the vehicle in May 2004 and the previous owner says he did not have the part replaced. He only ever took it to one dealership and they don't have any records of it being replaced. That dealership is where I have the truck now and they said they cannot honor the recall even though I didn't buy the vehicle until after it expired. I called Ford Customer Service and the guy there said he found the recall but couldn't find any records on my vehicle about whether it had been done or not so he would not authorize the repair either. Does anybody have any other suggestions about how I could get Ford to fix it? |

If it was I in the same position I'd probably go pick up the $42 part and be done with it as the campaign has been expired almost 2 years
Now if the part cost was several hundred dollars I might take the fight to them.
