Hey Guys,
It was icy here in KY and I had my 02 V-10 Ex in 4x4..It performed great!! I first just used the ESOF on the dash to go into 4x4 High with the hubs in the AUTO mode..What exactly happens when you rotate the knob to lock??? My hubs turn very easily as I turn them every week to keep them working. Can you drive down the road in 2WD with the hubs in the LOCKED position to lubricate the Ft Diff?
I'm just not sure what happens with the Hubs???
Thanks...

Scott, when you flip the 4x4 switch into 4-wheel high, two things happen.... an electric motor engages the transfer case and a puff of vacuum is sent to the hubs to engage them. If the hubs do not engage for some reason, you can twist the knob from AUTO to LOCK which engages them manually. Yes, you can drive the Ex in 2WD with the hubs in lock. That will cause the front shafts to be turning, which will cost a little in mileage. My hubs no longer engage automatically, so during stormy weather periods, I often drive around with the hubs locked. After a couple of years, I've not seen any ill effects.

"My hubs no longer engage automatically,"
How do you know when they don't engage automatically? Will the 4x4 dash light blink or something? I recently read some posts about the auto vs lock position of the front hubs, I had never messed with them, I believe they are in Auto mode, but I can't budge the darn things!
