Without mudflaps, the snow and dirt just collects on the running boards. Then I step on it and track it into the truck.

A search here shows that the Ford mudflaps get hit by the tires on full lock, but there were no suggested alternatives.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've read that the Husky brand mudflaps have been a good alternative to the stock flaps.

This is a good question. I got a scream'n deal on a set of Ford flaps. The rears worked fine. I have an 8" lift with 37" tires and I meet my states rule of 50% coverage. The front is a different story. The Ford flaps look good go'n straight but the tires remove them in a turn. I have tryed heating them in water and trying to hold them in a new bend. I think my next step will be custom cardboard shapes and fiberglass them myself. I get tired of the dirt and mud i track in.

I have the OEM molded flaps installed and haven't had any problems with rubbing on my stock wheels/tires.

My wife just went to the delaer to buy some mud flaps for me as an Xmas gift and the parts guy said that Ford doesn't make them for '04 fronts. True? Nothing up front looks so strange that they wouldn't accept front flaps.

I had the Ford flaps front and rear, and found the stock tires rubbed the front flaps. I removed the fronts when I went to 305-70R-16 tires. I have pondered the idea of taking some sheet plastic, and basically laminating it to the OEM splash panel with pop-rivets (washers on both sides) down the rear of the fenderwell, with a notch cut into it to clear the bodywork, providing some protection to the running boards. If necessary, a small aluminum bracket could be fabricated to secure the sheet plastic to the running boards. I buy 0.100" thick sheet plastic, and it's available in several colors from Day Motorsports ... they sell racing supplies.
