Heys-guys-I checked out threads on replacing the lift struts on the rear glass. I have not looked at in detail as to how they are attached. if someone who has replaced them could tell me the procedure for removal and installation I would greatly appreciate it. I imagine I could figure it out, but the older you get , the more you value your time--not to mention a pain in the a$$.
Thanks
David

Replacement of the struts aren't that bad,get yourself a 2' length of 2x4 wood to support the liftgate which you'll position between the turn out doors and liftgate but make sure you cover the ends of the 2x4 with towels to prevent scratching the paint and interior body panel.

An alternative to the wood is get the wife or friend to support the liftgate while R&R'ing the actuator rods.

By using a flat blade screwdriver you pry up the metal "C" clip retainer on each end of the actuator rod which will release the rod from the pivoting ball points, install the new actuator rod in reverse order.

if you would like more height like i do, you can also use the 2x4 model of excursion strut instead of a 4x4 model. they are 2" longer because of the lower ride height of the 2x4. nice little tidbit of info for ya!

I have the part number handy YC3Z-78406A10-AA which should be under $20 each at most Ford Online discount parts places.

It should be noted that the part numbers listed on my 2005 2WD Excursion's rear lift hatch struts are the same as other users 4WD trucks.

Make sure you measure them before you actually buy them. Also do a search on the liftgate struts here to get some more info on what I'm talking about.
