Hey guys,

A couple of nights ago, a co-worker and I were discussing transmissions in my Ex and his F-250. I asked about the manufacturer of the transmission, and his reply was "Metric". He said they had been manufacturers of trannies for a while for Ford. I ask where he got the info, and he said it is stamped on the tranny pan. My reply was that stamping means the bolts securing the pan are metric, not the maker of the tranny. So, I was wondering if anyone could answer the question, who actually makes the transmission for the Ford Excursion/F-250 with the 4r100 type transmission. Thanks in advance for the replies.

Never heard of Metric as far as manaufacturers go. But that doesn't mean anything...

I always assumed it was the fact that the internals are all metric. This happened when Ford took the AOD from regular to metric.
