i was curious if anyone here has tried out one of those ebay "modified to fit" 05 grilles for their 2000+ ex. ive been thinking about either going with one of those or a pre 05 superduty truck grille, i cant stand my 2001 factory X one. id get one that wasnt already machined but im not so good at paying attention to detail and id have a lopsided grille or something

I was thinking of getting one, too. But do they offer it in colors or just the chrome? Just curious, to be correct for '05 limited, would the grill have to be monochromatic (same color as the car?) or did they offer the lmtd with a chrome grill as well?

I just installed the 05 chrome grill from ebay. Nice fit just a little loose in the middle bottom, there is nothing to secure it there. It looks great

Welcome 2000EXlimited!

I see you became a supporter prior to your first post! WOW!

What do you mean there are no provisions to secure it to the bottom? Are there not tabs in which you can add the stock metal locking clips to?

They have supports that screw into the fron end on the bottom corners. The middle has nothing to secure it. In the modification of it the bottom portion of the surround is cut off. I put pictures in my folder. You can see how the top has the thick surround and the bottom has very little

I just ordered one of the 05 modified chrome grills a couple of days ago. The seller swears it's a 10-15 minute easy install. Bought it on ebay for around $229.

I've already done the parking/corner light upgrade so with the new grill my 150K mile, 2001 X will look pretty much like a new one, hopefully.

Now if I can just get the groaning/soft popping noises to go away under the front floor board then I'll feel and sound like new from inside.

It is an easy job just the screws at the top and the clips then screw the new one in and thats it. You will like it...I do and there are pics in my gallery
