I am planning to install a pair of PIAA fog lamps and have been told I can use the factory headlight switch that was installed with factory fogs. Has anyone done this mod to their Ex? I need to see the back of a fog lamp equipped switch and a non-fog switch to see if there is a difference. I am figuring that the factory fog/headlamp switch has two extra connectors that are not present on the non-fog switch. Am I close with this? Thanks for replying. |

I don't know about the Excursion, as I have not added fogs to it yet. But I did add it to my old Expedition, and the extra connectors were there in the dash behind the switch, ready to hook up to the new switch. The plugs for the fog lamps were right down above the bumper, waiting to be hooked up.
Hopefully, the Excursion is the same way.
If you find that the new lamps need a relay to operate them due to higher current, you could tap into it at the connector behind the switch. |

If you want either set to operate WITHOUT the lites on then you will need to change to stock connections.... the stock fog lamp's can only be energized when the lights are on....
And I too think the draw may be too much for the stock circuit....
when I added my PIAA's to the 03 Ex I mounted the microswitch on top the steering wheel housing so it would be easy to turn on and off as needed....
if I do the same additions to my 05 I think I would put the piaa switch on the drivers door armrest to make it even betta access
