Think I will have to replace my CPS
Saw the DT466 listed on the Power Stroke site. Has ford ever used the DT466 or is this a power up for the 7.3 [DT444]?
Wanted to know before I buy one of them.
Thank you for any comments / and or advise.

It just happens that the blue CPS is interchangable with the 7.3L and DT466 engines. I know the blue cps has a stronger magnetic pull versus the stock CPS.

General concensus says the Blue will retard injector timing. I have one and will be replacing it this summer with a black and also correcting any airgap issues that may have made the blue work better..

Actual testing was done comparing the two CPS models and it turns out that the Blue does retard the timing and raises the EGT's some but it did raise the torque just a tad but some owners have reported the Blue CPS causing the engine to have more "pep" and one reporting around 8-10% increase in mileage.

I'm somewhat fenced but I'd like to try the Blue CPS just for S&G

Still trying to get a handle on this.
Fords4me, you said that you have a blue one and are planning on replacing it. Why?
As CHP mentioned in following post some have reported better power and milage, were your results differant?
Thanks,
James

Just to note that every truck reacts differently to the blue style CPS.

It has a smoother idle, starts quicker, and does a little better on fuel. It's my understanding the air gap on most of the 7.3s is a little more than spec, so I will check it out and see if it needs a little creative grinding. The injection timing is a slight bit retarded, so it raises the EGT's. I haven't checked the 1/4 mi. time yet, but with the black and the Edge EVO 100HP tune my X ran it in 16.36. I'm sure it's slower.

Bottom line is I figure that IH would only stock 1 CMP if 1 size fit all. It has been speculated the reason the blue helps some and not others is because the mass manufacture process does not allowfor close tolerance.
