Can anyone help with an annoying noise that occurs at about 2000rpm and goes away shortly after hitting 2200rpm. It sounds a bit like a heat shield vibrating, I have been told by another guy that it is the inspection plate on the transmission or bell housing. I took a quick look and could not find one. One more elusive noise. My excursion is lifted 4.5 inches ( if that matters) and has an annoying knocking sound (louder when cold) on the drivers side, I can feel it in the floor pan towards the pedals. nobody has been able to figure this one out. Any help would be great. |

As for the rattling, I would guess the heat shield also. As for the knocking sound in the floor, I would guess that it is your body mounts. Try spraying the mount bolts with WD-40 to see if that stops it. If it does, then your probably looking at replacing the bushings because they are wearing/rubbing against the body. Hope this helps. Try posting this in the "Excursion Discussion" section. You may get more responses there.
