A buddy of mine has a new 05 X and has about 8K miles on it. For some reason, the "Water in Gas" light keeps coming on but the engine runs fine. He had one fuel filter bled--twice. Still did the same thing. I know there is a second filter but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this particular quirk. I have a V10 so I am no help.

Thanks!

I have an 05 also, and the exact same thing happens. I had the sensor changed 2x at the dealer and still is happening. I use only Exxon or Chevron diesel. I no longer know what to do either and I am getting tired of bleeding the fuel filter.

anyone?

You do know there is two fuel filters... right ? one on top and one inside the drivers side frame rail...

(on edit - just saw your stmt that u know about 2 filters Dooh )

Draining is great periodically, but if you get a batch of bad fuel, you may ruin a filter or two...

Also the 03's had a recall on the HFCM (the bottom filter housing - WIF sensor), take it into the dealer and ask them if the 05's have the same issue....

(My 05 hasn't had a problem, but I jsut turned 15,000 miles....)

Good Luck !

JohnBoy,

I realize that there are 2 filters but as I remember reading the owners manual, I believe it states that if the water light goes on, you drain the drivers frame fuel filter. That is where the sensor is... Thus should it OR does it make a difference about the other fuel filter if there is no sensor there and the book does not mention it?
