Im getting an execssive amount of diesel fumes in the cab at idle. More so now with 102K on the clock vs say 25K when I got it. The dealer is telling me that the Y-Pipe needs to be replaces. My question is ok, they want like 800 bucks to fix this which is insane and they are telling me that the gaskets are leaking and that yes, they could install new gaskets but it will leak soon again. In general terms they said that the pipe, assuming the Y-pipe as explained to me is pitted and that it will not seal up right, so the olny course is to replace with new.

1st is this true?

2nd- how hard is it to do this job myself?

3rd- Any suggestions?

Thanks

Jason
