Can you imagine driving a brand new truck and every bump you hit the rear suspension squeaks like '74 Pinto? If not, come on over and drive mine. Talk about embarrassing!
It won't do it in the rain so I cannot take it to my preferred Ford service dept in Hilo (the wettest city in the US). Nor will they take my word for it...it must be "verified". Fair enough...
I need it to stop raining in Hilo!!
Now...has anyone else had to take their truck in to have the spring bushings replaced due to squeakiness?

Ken -- Are you certain it's a bushing? Or is there a nylon "slider" missing between a couple spring leaves? The sliders each have a portion that protrudes downward through its leaf like a retaining pin. If you spot an empty hole in your spring-pack from below, then look at it from the side to verify the slider is missing. Bushings usually do not squeak unless they're made of polyurethane ... I have not heard a hard-durometer (or soft-duraometer) bushing squeak. |

I checked for the sliders when my add-a-leaf was installed. They were all there.
I should also say that the squeak was present before the add-a-leaf.
I took it back to the lift shop to have them make sure it wasn't the leaf. (yes...a little sneaky but...) I bounced the truck up and down and sure enough the sounds eminated from the bushings. I thought it strange too since I thought these type aren't suppose to squeak.
It goes into the shop next week. The tech verified the noise and now step 2: Tear down: so that he can come tell me it needs parts that he doesn't have and that he'll have to order that will take 3 weeks to get here since we live on a remote island chain and once they get here will be the wrong ones... yes...been there...done that...

I have a 2000 Limited 4WD and I have lived with the squeaking since I bought it 1 1/2 years ago. My mechanic lubed the body-mount bushings and the squeaking stopped for a month or so then it was back again. I don't know what the real fix is for this. Please let me know how you get this problem resolved if you truly do resolve the problem.
Thanks,
Roger |

It goes in the shop Thursday so I'll report back what my dealer decided to do to fix it.
