I have already search for someone that has had this same problem, with know results. The results I found had to do with weak or bad actuators. My actuators seem to be working fine you can hear them locking and unlocking. They want ingage the locks, also the key lock will not work .I have sprayed wd40 in the lock but has not helped.

Just to clarify:

You can hear the actuators "actuating" but they do NOT operate the locks?

The key will NOT turn and therefore you cannot unlock the door that way?

Is there a problem with the "barn" doors, too?

I have a 1999 and a 2005 Excursion.
The actuators will wear out in time.
My 1999, I had to replace it once so far.
I did it myself. Aftermarket is only about $29.
I bought it on ebay an installed it.

And that problem would be???

A. The key will NOT unlock the hatch.
B. The actuator sounds as if it working but won't unlock the hatch.
C. Both A & B.
D. Something else...

I'm trying to figure out what exactly you may need help with. I couldn't make it out in your first post.

If "C" is correct, you may have to pull the beauty cover off the back of the hatch to see if something came disconnected.

The actuators typically do "sound" like they are working but do not open the locks when they go bad. Replaced all of mine about a year ago. I just found out my key won't unlock my doors. With keyless entry I never use it but the service tech at the Ford dealership noticed it,,,,for that I have no clue unless the lock is coded incorrectly..????

Good luck

I pull the covering off the hatch to have look. The locking divice is binding caused the actuator plastic to holder to brake off.I finally freed the lock up some but is still hard for actuators to move.So igoing to replace both I found them online for about $110 for the pair. The locking controller looks like a pain to remove,I guess I'll see.

Thanks
