I have an 01 X V10 4X4 limited with 100k miles that the drivers front sits 3/4" lower than the passengers side. When I hit a bump or come out of my driveway the passenger side feels like it has good dampening but the drivers side is VERY stiff. I have replaced the shocks with Rancho but this didn't help much. I have had a dealer tell me that maybe my spring has sagged. I have a local offroad shop that takes off springs from F250's all the time and says that he can get me a set for next to nothing. He says that they are a little stiffer that the stock X springs and should sit the truck back up to where it started. Is this the case? What spring code should I be looking for? Should I just purchase new springs from Rancho or one of the other aftermarket vendors and be done with it? Thanks for your help. |

Actually the 4x4 Excursions come from the factory with sagging springs(Ford Engineering) and almost always hits the bumpstops which is the negative ride you're experiencing.
If you're not going to install a heavy bumper on the front like on mine I say go with the V code springs
We upgraded the springs on our X just a few months after we took delivery

Would I use the same as you did even though I have the V10? |

With the V-10 it should be around 1/4" higher than the 7.3L Powerstroke but it should be perfectly fine

Bill's got one sweet Ex, the V's will be fine for the V-10, if you really want to go up, go with X codes, they are the bomb!!

Come to mention it if you just want to gain 1"-2" lift on the front I highly recommend the Edge Mini Spring Pack Kit. They run about $225 & come with everything needed and can be knocked out in your driveway, even easier if you have air tools

I have thought about those...Do they really make that much of a difference?

To bring up the front end and provide additional oversized tire clearance I say they work well.

I may go the spring pack route versus going to W code springs due to the labor time involved alone
