OK, let just start by saying that Keys + Beach = BAD....
So, $160 later by a locksmith in Orange County California, I now have 2 PATS keys (he deleted the old key info) for the Excursion.
Does anyone know if I can buy any particular Ford Key Fob for the excursion (3 button lock/unlock/panic) advertised for an Excursion on e-bay and program it for the truck, or do I need to go to a dealer who can tell me what model/frequency FOB I need to get?

If you have another keyfob, the ones on eBay are fine. Your owner's manual describes the process to program them yourself . If you go to the dealer, they would program a new fob in the same basic manner.
BTW ... keys + beach do not equal bad. In such situations, I lock the keys in the truck and use the keypad on the door ... and I ALWAYS keep a spare PATS key hidden inside the truck. |

Hi Landyot,
I don't have any other FOBs, so I guess the question is can I buy any Ford 3 button FOB and program it to the truck , or will this require a dealer visit since I only have 2 PATS keys right now?
Also, Keys + Beach = BAD, if you mix the 2.... In my particular case, I was in a rush and put my keys in the jacket (open pocket) and forgot about it as I ran around on the beach with my dogs. I should have put them in truck, but forgot in my rush... |

Your owner's manual will be able to provide an answer (mine's not right beside the PC).
Anyone else have a definite answer? Methinks a visit to the dealer is in Bandit's near future. |
