My Ex has finally reached 60K. I am replacing the oil, coolant, tranny oil and air filter. When is the best time to change the factory spark plugs? Is there anything I am missing? I don't have alot of time, so I will do a few things each weekend until I'm done.
Summer is coming so I am also changing the heater valve to the Diesel-site valve and insulating the A/C ines. Did I mention I'm doing the dor locks also? My primary vehicle(Camry) has met it's demise and the Ex is coming off the bench. I hace to fix all the things Ive been putting off.

Plugs are supposedly good till 100K. Wouldn't hurt to swap them now. That way you'll know you've got them torqued properly.
Plugs are cheap but it's a PITA to change those in the back. However, knowing your ride is at 100% is a feeling that is usually worth the busted knuckles.

Odd...with gas prices here ($3.57) our Excursion is parked as much as possible. Never thought someone would put one INTO service.

I just had my plugs replaced at 80K. I have the extended warranty and had the dealer replace them. I told them that way if it blows a plug out of the aluminum head in 20K, they get to replace the heads!
Good luck!

Spark plugs. Do you have to remove the fuel manifold to access? I haven't tried to change them yet.
I had to go out and get a tool for removing the fuel filter. I tried to get it out first, then after a few minutes of tugging on the fuel line, I recalled reading about a Ford removal tool. So I started researching and also found out I should bleed the pressure from the line. That will be next weekends goal, along with the coolant jobs.
I think I will replace the thermostat while I am changing the coolant. I had one stick on my toyota, cost me a head gasket!
The door locks are easy, after you finish the first.

To replease the fuel pressure just pull the fuel pump fuse with the truck running. When it dies; no more pressure.
Sparkplugs DO NOT require manifold removal but will require a U-joint attachment for your socket set.
