Mine had a leak when I bought it, 7.3L 2002, but it turned out to be that the hose to the turbo just needed tightening (that is what Ford told me it was).

It might be leaking from the tranny-engine gasket though and that is expensive.

I'd go with the purchase. These deisels are built like tanks.

Good luck with the 6.0L and let us know how it goes.

Just had my '05 w/ 16k on the lift the other day. Its going back to the dealer for warranty repairs of leak in power steering and a leak at the rear of the motor. Didnt pay too much attention to where it was leaking from because it was berrird up in the motor and its the dealers problem anyway. Ill let you know what they say it is.

Also had the rear window washer hose come apart in the firewall so they need to fix that.

The truck is still a mule and the leaks are an annoyance but not something that makes me regret buying it.

ty,

I have an 03 6.0 with 62K on it and have had it in the dealer for 3 rear main seals, turbo tubes, upper and lower pans (6.0 have a split configuration) along with replacing the rear pinion seals twice. Bottom Line... it has finally stopped leaking. I love this truck and the performance of the motor but Ford and Navistar appear to not know how to design seals or maybe install them. The trans has not started leaking yet but I am waiting for it to join in adding more stains on my new concrete driveway. Ford has definately lost money on my vehicle as the leak repairs are just a few items on the long list of warranty repairs.
