Zero,
I will not get the final cost till Wednesday of next week.
Told that it will be between $2,200 and $2,400 instaled.
I will post the cost and what was done with upgrades when it is complete.
He did say that he was going to build it to put it in a real truck!

I like your "handle", I doubt that many get that you are refering to a temp in C.
One of my favorite bits of useless trivia is that -40 f and -40c are the same temp.

Mine failed right about the same time at 127K; I regrettably also went with a Ford reman. I really wanted an ATS tranny because they had the best warranty out there and they had a great reputation. The long and short of it, never go with a Ford reman, especially when you can get something way better.

This shop does so many 4R100 transmissions that it is his specialty. He says “Love the truck, Hate the trans, but it keeps my kids in shoes”
From what I have been told the trans is DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN!
It has not been engineered to be bolted up to a 7.3!

I'm curious, I don't mean this as a slam, but did you have the engine on a chip prior to this problem surfacing? I suspect you did given your comments on the following paragraph:

Quote:
This is why FORD will try to void your warranty if you run a chip etc.
I told him that I have been running the SCMT1705 on 80 HP and wanted to bump up the fuel pressure to 70 psi and put a walker bit truck muffler on it, he is going to build it to handle this.
Best of luck to you hope that it is not the trans on your truck!

Jim

Could you clarify this for me and the board?

Jim,
Looking forward to that info.

RE: -273 C, always loved physics and engineering.

0degreesKelvin,

..... But again, I have never rebuilt an automatic trans.

If I have to do it, I want to do it once and do it right.

I think that if you do not have good experience and training, it will be impossible to do it once and o it right.

I don't think you can afford to save the money, that a good transmission shop will want.
