I just bought a new 06 Ford Focus and it came with a 5yr 100k powertrain warranty. One of the suggestions in the owners manual was to have Ford service everything they could under warranty right before you reach the 5yr 100K mark.
Which brings me to my point. Does anyone know if this warranty was in effect for the 2001 model year Excursions? If so was this automatically transferred to me when I bought my 01 used last year. Would the warranty be from date of manufactuer or date of first be registered as sold? Lastly if it is indeed still under warranty what should I have the Ford Boys check out? My X has 92K on it we use it really only to take our toys to the desert and the lake. We run it every 2 weeks regardless around town. Thanks to all who reply. |

Did you buy it used from a dealer? If so, they should've told you about any pre-existing warranty. When I bought my '01 V10 Ltd. used from a dealer with 53K miles on it, there was no original warranty left. The dealer tried to sell me an extended warranty. I asked what's the extension cover, and he said, "Everything." I asked him to produce a printed list of what's covered, and it was many parts there are located under the hood ... nothing else was covered. I politely told them to keep the extension gimmick.
Bottom line, I very seriously doubt you have any warranty left, but don't take my word on that. So, you may want to check with your local dealer. Since you just bought another new Ford, he shouldn't mind doing a record search on your X. |

There may be an option where the dealer will sign you up with an outside company--that's what I did. Mine would only go to 100K so it probably not a reasonable option financially. I know there is one company you can go up to 125K as I saw it in the mail--unfortunately I tossed it.
Good luck

Excursions never go that coverage. I know the Focus is a bit longer but are you sure they didn't just add the Ford ESP to it? 5/100 seems long from the factory but hey...
You can run a VINCENT report on your Excursion's VIN to see if there is any ESP plans in effect on your truck.
Warrnaty date is from the "IN SERVICE date" or when it was first registered.
Those Ford boys won't "check it out" under warranty. If they find nothing wrong then you still gotta pay the shop time. Go to them with a definitive problem and if it is covered, they'll replace the part under warranty.
