I am in the process of turning my black 2000 V-10 Limited 4x4 ALL black (changed the grille to an F250 painted black, changed to 2002 turn signals, and changed the bottom bumper valance to black - now, I plan to paint the Arizona Beige sides black and change the rear bumper cover to black, and I'll be through.....gonna leave the bumpers, themselves, chrome.....it all looks pretty good!)

Long story short, I also will need to change to black running boards. Therefore,

1) Will F250 boards interchange - specifically, which ones, and
2) What's the best source for finding some of these?

Also, where can I find some %^&$@ "U-code" front springs? I can't seem to locate any.....and when I do, what's the correct part number on the RS9000X shocks for that modified setup? Is it the same for the F250?

As always, thanks in advance for your help/suggestions.

dnp, instead of getting new boards, why not have Line-X, Rhino Linings, etc, spray your current boards black. You would still have the lights built in and everything. They would be nonslip and chip resistant, too.

Just a thought.

Did you try your dealer?

The shocks would be the same as an F250...just as you thought!

Thanks for the replies so far.

Also, Rick, that's an EXCELLENT thought! I didn't want to spray them, because I knew they'd chip; however, I'll bet a spray-on lining would last......great thought! Plus, as you said, I'd get to keep my lights!

I'll let you know what the spray-on installers say......

Don't forget the pictures if you decide to do it. That would be a cool mod.

Well, I finally caught up with the line-x guy today, and he said Line-X doesn't adhere well to plastic He said he has had many inquiries about spraying plastic running boards, and he said the mfr. doesn't suggest it (he said the material goes on at approx. 180 degrees, and for whatever reason, doesn't adhere well on plastic or vinyl)......Which brings up a question: Does anyone know what's under the vinyl? I'm confident it's steel, but does anyone know the shape, etc.? If it looks "appropriate, one could still spray the frame with Line-X and still retain the factory lights..........any thoughts?

Bummer.

Well, what about a do-it-yourself "bedliner". I've seen stuff at Wal-Mart that you just brush on. I'm sure it is not as durable as Line-X, but it wouldn't melt anything.

I guess you could take off the plastic cladding and paint over that. The running boards are bound to be metal or fiberglass. I've never paid attention.

After all this, you might be better off buying a new all black X!
