I have a 2001, LTD 7.3. Found a good deal on 80/100 watt 9007 bulbs.
Can the stock wiring harnes and relays support the additional wattage demand of these bulbs. They are Canadian spec and significantly brighter than US spec.
Looking forward to your replys.

I had 80/100s on my 2000 Excursion with no issues. However, I would recommend a harness from SUVlights.com or similar.

I had the upgraded Hella lamps on my 2001 EX and they are noticeably much brighter, but you do have to upgrade the wiring harness to make it really work as they need more juice than the factory wires can deliver. Comes with a relay and connects directly to the battery terminal for high amp output.
I got a harness online and installed it with no problems..but after a few weeks started having grounding problems that mostly had to do with the very cheap grounding connections (in the haedlamp socket) quality of the harness that I bought. Maybe there are better ones out there, but I finally abandoned the whole thing and went back to factory lights. Too many nights of trying to fix this after driving around for a few nights with one or the other headlight burning very dimly.
If I could find a top quality harness I'd consider doing it again.
that's my input....FYI |
