I just installed my new LANDYOT Radius Rods last weekend. I also tried to install the Hellwig Anti-Sway bar but the hardware that I received seems incorrect. Is my 2005 4X4 that different from previous years??? Hellwig's catalog says the bar will work on 2000-2005 models. The supplied U-Bolts would not fit in the rear shock mount brackets. The diameter of the U-Bolts are too large to fit through the holes. I found that the stock U-Bolts will work, but they are of a smaller diameter material, so I am not sure this would be a good solution, as installing the anto-sway bar will be introducing more force upon them. Also, the end link bolts will not fit in the existing frame holes. I am going to have to drill them out. I did not have a right angle drill to use so I was out of luck. On the passenger side, the muffler interferes with drilling. I was a little dissapointed in this, as I will now have to unbolt the radius rods in order to install the anti-sway bar. I emailed Hellwig and am awaiting an answer. Any advice would be appreciated.

I thought I read somewhere to install the swaybar first. The U-bolts diameter is too big how? Will one end fit through a hole. Or, will they not fit in the holes at the same time? I laid out everything on the floor with the hardware before I started. I remember the Hellwig directions are horrible. Make sure you have the right hardware and the correct loacation for the bolts. I didn't have to drill or cut anything.

Yeah, I did try to install the Hellwig first. Everything fits together fine on the floor. It just doesn't bolt up. to the Excursion. I ended up putting the Radius Rods on anyway, even though I know I have to unbolt 1 end in order to install the Hellwig if/when I get the right hardware or drill out the holes.

Also, the U-Bolts are too "wide"- i.e. the space between the threaded ends is too great thus they do not properly align with the shock mount holes. They are not bent or anything, they are just too wide. In addition, the actual diameter of the U-Bolt threaded ends are too large to fit through the holes, so drilling would be necessary. I am afraid this may compromise the structural integrity of the shock mount, though. Maybe I just need to send the whole deal back.

How close are the u-bolt holes to the size of the u-bolts? Will reaming the holes slightly larger work . or drilling up to the next standard necessary? Also how far off is the alignment of the holes? More than a hole size difference and I would think you've got incorrect hardware.

I've seen several Hellwig kits that were missing hardware, and some that had a few nuts with the wrong thread pitch, but this U-bolt problem is a new one to me.

I found the same problem with the U bolts supplied by Hellwig. I just reused the stock Ubolts which are hardened steel and even though they are thinner seem stronger. They were plenty long. The end link bolts fit fine in the frame holes. You need to use the hole further up and back from the holes used by the cable clamp on the drivers side as they are too small and designed for the clamp assembly, not the sway bar.

Thanks!! I'm glad someone else had this problem. I haven't gotten anywhere with Hellwig's support. They said they would check with their installer, and I have not heard back in several weeks. The frame hole you mention is the right size, but I was concerned that it is too far back. I have renewed confidence now that you told me that is how yours was installed. How long has yours been instlaled?

Thanks!!

The Hellwig has been installed for about a week, all seems fine. I also installed Billsteins at the same time. I have yet to tow with the bar installed so I do not know how much of a difference they have made.
