backing out of a parking spot (christmas shopping) it sounded like i threw the belt (but belt was still on), suddenly the steering required the hulk to turn it, a whining sound from i believe the p.s.pump, some p.s.fluid on pump and hoses but not leaking heavily to show a broke hose. would it be the pump or a bad steering box . |

Since you can still steer it I would first suspect the pump. What engine do you have? Two different power steering systems available depending on whether gas or diesel.

sorry for the delayed response i've been out of town. i have the v-10. it was the pump, i pulled the belt and turned the pump by hand and i could feel the pump bearing binding, didn't have time to fix it before i left so i sent it to the mechanic $180 new pump and new belt all fixed |
