My 2005 Ex (V10) is still under warranty but if it's something simple I'd like to fix it myself. Once in a while when I start her up it will make a loud "fluttering" sound. I guess the best way to describe the sound is like when you shuffle a deck of cards. It doesn't happen EVERY time I start it but a few times a week I hear it. Any ideas? Thanks

Is the AC on when you start it up?

Try starting it without the AC on.

If that IS the problem then know that the clutch on the compressor can be kinda loud when it first engages. It is acutally doing a purge cycle called CASS. Don;t ask me what it stands for becuase i've forgotten. ;)

It can be adjusted by a service tech (it's in the service manual) and if you can reproduce it at will (usually the first start of the day) then the tech should be able to adjust it under warranty.

If it sounds like someone spinning a bicvcle wheel with a baseball card in the spokes, it is the same noise I have observed since day one. The dealer says it the ABS pump coming online. Usually I start it up and hear it after a second or so or you can turn on the ignition and wait and I can hear it. It is no problem so save your money!
