If/when I change my auto locking hubs to a set of Warn hubs, then they will no longer controlled via the vaccuum line. My question for you all is, how does that effect the operation and performance of the transfer case? Assuming it is controlled by vaccuum as well.

The transfer case is electrically controlled. It still operates in the same manner as before. It engages the front axle when the switch is put in 4WD or 4WL. If the hubs are engaged, then you have power to the front wheels and the axle parts are moving,
If you did not get out and engage the hubs, and the transfer case is engaged, then the axle parts just spin while you go down the road, driven by the engine.
Engage the hubs, turn off the transfer case, and the axle parts still spin, driven by the front wheels.
Both of them off, no axle parts move, and you have a 2WD.
Sorry to be so verbose. |
