WELCOME to the X-Files!
I got so tired of dealing with it on my '01 that I eventually wired in a bank of 4 toggle switches under the dash so I could not only disarm the offending circuit, but identify which one was acting up. |
Yes, welcome indeed!
Now, wiring switches for the door sensors? Do you have pictures of the installation and some wiring schizmatics that might help those of us that might want to consider doing the same thing? And did you opt to leave some out, or what? There are two on the back window, one each on the two rear passenger and front doors; that would total six? And I am wondering about that "just unplug it" trick.
Thanks,
Phil |

I cannot confirm that my '05 is wired the same because I have only the '01 factory wiring diagrams. There were only four wiring circuits for the six door-ajar switches on my '01. Each front door had its own circuit, the pair of rear doors were on one circuit, and the liftgate (two switches) had its own circuit. With the wiring diagrams, I identified the wires in which I needed to insert the toggle switches, and which pin they used at the GEM connector / plug. All the wiring I did was under the dashboard, with the switches mounted out of sight but within reach.
Sorry, but I cannot digitize the wiring diagrams, and the huge sketch I drew when researching the diagrams is long gone. In lieu of a bank of switches, individual switches can be installed at each door. |

I found the offending circuit by pulling the electrical connector off each sensor until I found the one that was keeping the light on. When you get this far, you might as well replace the sensor since the door pannel is off anyway. For me, it wasn't bad because it was the second one I checked. It could get time consuming. You can probably test each circuit in the position of where onew of the above posters said he put toggle switches in.
In the original post, the seatbelt chime goes on when the seat belt is not buckled. In the manual, there is directions for turning that off. I did it with mine and it turned off after following the directions. It's in the seat belt section of the glove compartment book. Good luck. |
