Most of you know that I have a 2005 XLT. It did not come with fog lights. A year ago, I decided I wanted to have a front hitch, OEM Fog lights, and have the fog lights work from the headlight switch.

As far as the hitch, It would need to be one that mounted different than the ones that are listed for the 2005 Excursions. I found that Curt Manufacturing made a hitch that went under the skirt and let you keep the OEM foglights, but it was only for 2000-2003 model years. The reason was there was a change in the blockerbeam in 2004. I found that I could install new 2003 spring hangers and blockerbeam.

A couple of weeks ago, I completed the install (see my previous posts for pics) of the front hitch from Curt, installed V's and B's, made a simple mod to Firestone airbags to work with Landyot radius rods, and now I have added the final part of the puzzle.

After a bit of study, I have found a method of using the Ford fog light kit and making it work with a OEM headlight switch that has the fog light features on it.

I did the circuit tracing and testing over the last couple of days, and today I completed the installation of the system.

I now have a Headlight switch that operates OEM fog lights, and my Front hitch. The fogs work with high beams.

All is Good!! I have my cake and I'm eating it too!!!!!

I have taken a full photo set of the install of the Fog light wiring. If anyone is interested, I will put them at Webshots for you with captioned instructions. Let me know.
