Yep, thus far everything is working like a charm. The keypad is working properly and the remotes work just fine as well. Next time I will replace the kepad myself and just pay Ford to replace and reload the VSM. Perhaps someone by then will have a Ford connection, and I can just pull the VSM out and ship it to someone to upload the program and download it into a new VSM.

I do remember back when I was talking to the tech guy the first time, that he said when the keypads start shorting out, they usually take something else with it in the process. In this case, the VSM.

I am glad shes working good for you.

A guy in our area with the ford computer would be great. I asked about having both modules out and dumping one to the other but they said it needed to be done in the truck. I am sure it can be done outside the truck with the right cables and S/W.

I asked about the keypad replacement and the guy in the parts department said they do 40 modules to 1 keypad. Thats crazy Ford sure has some lousey modules.

Heres my plan I am going to replace the keypad (cause its the cheapest) if I still have my problems then I will order that module you had replaced, find it on my truck. Remove everything in the way and have the sucker hanging by its wires when I bring her in for the data swap. if they have any time left over on their hour they can start bolting her back up. I am sure they will find another way to hit me for a few hours.

After I get this working correctly then I can start installing my remote start that uses the factory system. That should be fun.

I'd rather be in the boat with a drink on the rocks then in the drink with the boat on the rocks.... But either way theres gonna be a good story!!!

I would recommend if you take it into Ford and you have a brake controller module attached any where near the working area, well to take it off. My older Kelsey brake controller was mounted by velcro to the lower panel that they took off. The panel right above the transmission hump that is right around the drink holder area. Well, my brake controller was hard wired, and I noticed today I got out of the car and my brake lights were staying on. Well, I found out that the tech wasn't too gentle on the brake module and when he was probably working he tugged on the wires going into the brake module. The brake module now just stays on all the time, so I opened it up and it looks like when he yanked on the wires a bit, it pulled one of the resistors out of the board. So, I cut the wires and removed the brake module and just ordred a new Prodigy Brake Control by Tekonsha. If the controller wasn't old, I would be pissed, but I needed a new one anyway. However, I will call the dealer and see what they think of their tech taking out my brake controller......

Exactly why I hate letting other people work on my stuff.
