After I get done running a tank of B20 through my beast I would like to change the fuel filter as CHP recomends.
I have never done that before on my Excursion and would like to know if this was/is something left for my local for Dealer or something I can do at home.
Is there a website demonstrating how this is done.
My 1965 Mustang was much easier to work on than these modern cars!
Thanks

You have a 4x4 or 4x2 ?
6.0 or 7.3 ?
if the 6.0L :
the one in the top of the engine is EASY to change...
the one under the driver frame rail is only a bit more involved to change....
Reason for the 4x4 question is that it helps to ift a 4x4 a bit to move the front drive shaft out of the way...
but other than that, drain it first and pay attention to how it came apart...

Thanks Bill. Yes, I have a 7.3L. I forgot to mention that. Those photos really help.
Would you suggest the Racor filter F4596 or just go with the one Ford puts out?
How is your MPG since running on the B20?

They really aren't that bad to change. I had to do one in sub zero temperatures a couple weeks ago. I started my truck and pulled it into the yard so I could plow my driveway with the Kubota and when I hopped back in it wouldn't start. A quick change of the filter and it was up and running again. I'm also not sure if it helps or not but when I put the new filter in I always fill it with and additive such as seafoam or howes to help clean the injectors.

Russell sorry for the way way late reply, the Racor or Ford replacement cartridge will work fine(I use the Racors out of habit).
My mileage actually has stayed about the same running with the B20,the main reason I run B20 is due to the new ULSD formula fuel doesn't have amount of lubrication properties needed for the 7.3L,the B20 makes up for it in a big way, even B10 will do wonders

I have a 6.0L and really have not noticed a big difference in performance with the ULSD. Is the 6.0L designed different, or am I just not perseptive?
I try to fill up at a local truck stop that has the 500PPM for the lubrication factor, but it is not always convenient.
Obviously I want my X to run for ever, so I am always interested to here about alternatives to ULSD.
