We enjoy our 2003 v10 Limited so much that my wife wants her own X. We found a 2001 v10 leather LTD for $14,900 with 99k miles (current price before negotiating). It looks pretty clean and does not have a dvd.
What were the issues with the 2001 v10 model year besides tires? I want to make sure I check everything out. Also...How out of line do you think the price is?
Would you buy it?

Would you buy it? | 14,9K sounds high for the market & miles. Around 11-12K is fair. Still, you should check the local market via Edmunds, KBB NADA etc. etc.
01's don't have any more "problems" than the rest of the years (save for the 03 6.0L's). Just make sure it checks out mechanically and all the problems common to all Excursions (sway bar bushings, body mounts, door lock actuators etc.) are not issues with this one.

Well NADA shows that a clean 2001 4x4 Limited with 99K miles retails for $15,525 in the Atlanta burbs. So by that criteria (everything else being sound mechanically) I am getting a deal. I got them down to $14,700 this afternoon.

I bought my 2000 V10 4X4 Limited from a dealer for $12,500 this past October. Added options on it were a front hitch, bug shield and visor above the windshield (looks cool but is noisy from wind). Also had a custom exhaust on it. Truck is in mint condition with 63,000 miles on it. Good luck.... |
