I am on my second DVD player in my 2002 X. The original broke awhile back and it was out of warranty, so I bought another unit off of ebay. Well, the second unit stopped working after about a year, so I found a place in Ohio that Ford sends all the Delphi DVD players to for repair. I spoke to a lady who has been helping me out, but I just got a $420 quote to repair it. She said by me going directly to them, I saved probably $100-$150. They need to replace the deck, replace the ribbon cable, re-allign the laser, plus 2 hours labor. Can you say OUCH....
I would like to stick to the factory look in the X, and I have been searching ebay again for another DVD player that will fit the 2002. I haven't had any luck. I haven't seen any on ebay in awhile. I know the 2000-2002 will fit, and in 2003 they went to the wireless headphones which changed the DVD unit a bit. Does anyone know of any websites I might be able to pick up a used OEM DVD player for the X? Or does anyone know of a good junk yard who perhaps has the part pulled and I can buy it from them over the phone? Or does anyone know of a direct replacelemt dvd player that I can put in the original DVD player slot? For the $420 bill, I figured I can probably buy another two or three used units for that price.

It is getting more difficult to locate stock take off parts for our trucks. If it's really worth $400 to retain the stock radio's operation I say go for it.

Knock on wood our CD6 is still kicking but we don't use the CD's,just satellite radio audio fed thru it
